I straddle two worlds
one says, "that crazy religious right"
and the other, "join together on prop 8"
They are pretty much the same
on so many other points
that I forget who goes to church
and who doesn't.
In my science
I see creation
the management of life
in pools and fluxes
flowing haphazardly
a sand dune
grown from a random grain
into a mountain.
In my soul
I see creation
a purpose in my being
responsibility
service
Eternal Hope.
Do I straddle,
or do I span?

Apical Meristem
Grow little plant, grow
you do so much
without even trying
the closest you come to a brain
is a bundle of cells
that pumps out hormones
grow grow grow.
Then I think
about how we're not that different
especially
when I was in high school
and college
and grad school.
Grow little plant
grow.

Genealogy
On Monday night I sat and learned
how indexing can be performed
the sister Gibbs came, Moscow way
to share with us a bright new day
death records, county, from all the land
entered twice, and checked by hand
so those who wish to build their tree
can do so with some help from me!
Check here for more info

Clouds
Like pulsing traffic
they wash across the blue
a conveyor of cotton
they move east
towards Moscow
(Idaho)
and Elk River
and the Sawtooths
until they squeeze together
too dense to float
nucleating around a mite
until they fall
and shred through
mountain, rock, and earth.
Pretty good for a cloud.
